Sometimes we understand our struggles logically, yet our bodies continue to hold onto anxiety, stress, grief, or trauma. Brainspotting is a brain-body therapy that helps access and process experiences stored deep within the nervous system.
Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting is based on the idea that "where you look affects how you feel." By identifying specific eye positions, known as brainspots, we can access deeper areas of the brain where emotional experiences and trauma may be stored. Unlike traditional talk therapy, Brainspotting helps the brain and body process experiences naturally, often helping clients move through issues that have felt stuck for years.
Brainspotting may be helpful for trauma, PTSD, anxiety, panic attacks, chronic stress, grief, attachment wounds, low self-esteem, relationship challenges, emotional regulation difficulties, negative core beliefs, life transitions, and personal growth.
During a session, we identify a concern, emotion, or experience you would like to address and locate a brainspot connected to it. While focusing on that spot, your brain and body are given the opportunity to process unresolved material in a safe and supportive environment.
Brainspotting and EMDR are both effective trauma-focused therapies. While EMDR follows a more structured protocol, Brainspotting is often a flexible and intuitive process guided by your nervous system and what emerges naturally during the session.
Every person's experience with Brainspotting is unique. Some clients experience emotional release, greater insight, increased self-awareness, or a sense of relief. Others notice gradual changes as their nervous system continues to process between sessions.
You do not need to have a trauma diagnosis to benefit from Brainspotting. It can be a powerful tool for healing, growth, and lasting emotional wellness.
At Believe and Grow Therapy Center, Brainspotting is offered in a compassionate, supportive, and trauma-informed environment. My goal is to help you feel safe, understood, and empowered as you move toward healing and growth.
If you are curious about Brainspotting, I would be honored to support you on your journey.
